Emergencies which can occur in our region:

The probability of these hazards developing into a major emergency in our region depends on many factors.  The likelihood of a full-scale emergency occurring is affected by:

• the nature of the specific hazard
• the geography of our region
• the time of year
• weather patterns
• human factors (human error, urban and industrial development, transportation, criminal activity, etc.)  

Each risk poses specific challenges in terms of emergency preparation, response, and recovery.

Take steps to be prepared for these emergencies and know what to do if they occur.  Planning and preparation will mitigate, or possibly even prevent, the harmful effects which can result from these hazards.
