If there is a hazardous materials incident that results in an airborne chemical hazard you may be advised to shelter-in-place at you residence or business. The aim of sheltering-in-place is to limit your exposure to the hazardous material by taking steps to prevent it from entering the building.
Before an Emergency
Identify areas in your home or business where a gas or other airborne hazard could enter.
Locate materials that you could use to seal off your home. (Duct tape, plastic sheeting, and tarps)
During an Emergency

After an Emergency
Listen to your radio or television for further instructions. You will be informed when it is safe to leave the building. In some situations local officials may order the evacuation of specific areas that are at greatest risk in your community.
